Safety First for San Francisco Children

From USENEWSWIRE
WHAT: American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) President Bruce Cunningham, MD, will present 2,000 safety sports helmets to students at Francisco Middle School prior to Plastic Surgery 2006, the ASPS annual meeting. The Mayor's Education Advisor, Hydra Mendoza, and San Francisco Unified School District Interim Superintendent, Gwen Chan, will accept the helmets on behalf of the city and San Francisco public schools.

WHY: Bike riding is one of the most popular recreational sports among children in the United States -- and the leading cause of recreational sports injuries. Children accounted for an estimated 315,700 bicycle-related injuries; 72,500 skateboard- related injuries; and 44,500 non-powered scooter-related injuries in 2004.

Studies show helmets can prevent 85 percent of serious head injuries and 65 percent of injuries to the mid- and upper face. Recreational sports injuries account for a significant part of reconstructive plastic surgery performed on children. Through its donation, ASPS hopes to prevent injuries and encourage more children to wear helmets.

WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: Francisco Middle School, 2190 Powell St. (Between Francisco and Chestnut Street), San Francisco, CA 94133

Please call ASPS Public Relations at 847-228-9900 or San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) at 415-241-6565 for additional information.

Ideas for feedotopia, 300+ digg alike and 200+ bookmarking sites!

I was hunting for ideas for feedotopia, (in addition to what I have), I landed on this post on 3spots.
I had to say WOW! But sometimes I wonder why that nothing is better than digg to some, no most of the users. Digg is a good idea but it was not the first of it's kind. Only the part I agree is that it was done better than all other previous and current sites.
To all who thinks that digg is THE site, think about all the search engines before Google! I think I will work on 3spots work to gain some knowledge.

Another Video feed, video gadget for your Google home Page.

Weseepeople reports about a new "Official Video Gadget" aptly named vidget by ravenii. It has been reported to be seen on DIGG as well. Go dig it!

Welcome to Feedotopia

Feedotopia is the blog about all type of web feeds.
From the above link on wikipedia;

"A web feed is a data format used for serving users' frequently updated content. Content distributors syndicate a web feed, thereby allowing users to subscribe to it. Making a collecting of web feeds accessible in one spot is known as aggregation.

In the typical scenario of using web feeds, a content provider publishes a feed link on their site which end users can register with an aggregator program (also called a feed reader or a news reader) running on their own machines; doing this is usually as simple as dragging the link from the web browser to the aggregator. When instructed, the aggregator asks all the servers in its feed list if they have new content; if so, the aggregator either makes a note of the new content or downloads it. Aggregators can be scheduled to check for new content periodically.

The kinds of content delivered by a web feed are typically HTML (webpage content) or links to webpages and other kinds of digital media. Often when websites provide web feeds to notify users of content updates, they only include summaries in the web feed rather than the full content itself."

I have gone through all of the following links and once you are through them, you will know what this blog is about.
